Bjorn Baker’s consistent mare Bonny O’Reilly is the firming favourite to continue her winning ways in Sydney on Saturday heading the Sheraco Stakes 2017 field and betting markets at Rosehill Gardens.

Set to run as Rosehill Race 6 at 3:10pm (AEST), this season’s Group 3 $150,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) has attracted a strong line-up of 14 fillies and mares.
The latest Sheraco Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au list O’Reilly five-year-old Bonny O’Reilly as the $4.20 favourite, with early support seeing her come in from an opening quote of $5.
Jason Collett reunites with the mare after Tim Clark rode her for a first-up Benchmark 95 win carrying 59.5kg over the same track and distance on August 26.
Back to set weights plus penalties, the stakes winning mare will enjoy the drop to 55kg on the weekend but does have a wide barrier 12 draw to overcome.
Plenty of stats stack up in her favour however as Bonny O’Reilly is undefeated at Rosehill Racecourse (4-4-0-0) and is yet to lose over the 1200m distance (4-4-0-0).
Occupying the second line of Sheraco Stakes betting this spring at $5 and drawn one inside the favourite with barrier 11 is the Chris Waller-trained Omei Sword.
Hugh Bowman partners the four-year-old daughter of High Chaparral for her second-up run of the season after the mare ran just over two lengths back fifth behind Deploy when taking on the boys at Randwick in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) on August 19.
Omei Sword rises from 53.5kg to 57kg on the weekend, returning to Rosehill for the first time since her seventh to Heavens Above in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m).
One of Waller’s top three-year-old fillies during last year’s spring carnival, Omei Sword is a Group 2 winner and also placed second to Astern in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) so has plenty of ability.
She was good late first-up and should be improving off her Show County run so shapes-up as a genuine danger this weekend if she can return to her best after two subsequent trials over the past three weeks.
In a close top-half of the market two mares are at an equal $7 for the win with Ghisoni and Daysee Doom drawn in barriers six and eight respectively.
Brenton Avdulla rides the James Cummings-trained Ghisoni first-up for Godolphin, the Lonhro five-year-old chasing her fifth win at start number eight.
A multiple Group winning mare, she hasn’t raced in over a year having last been seen at the 2016 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival.
That said, Ghisoni is all class and is undefeated first-up so is also a danger fresh in the Sheraco Stakes.
Ron Quinton’s Domesday five-year-old Daysee Doom was in outstanding form over the autumn – winter season including her last start victory in the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone in mid-May.
She has good form at Rosehill gardens including a Coolmore Classic fourth and subsequent Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) second, but will be improving over more metres later in her campaign.
