Chris Waller’s returning four-year-old Amicus is the top-rated acceptor for the Glenlogan Park Stakes 2016 field at Doomben Racecourse this weekend in Brisbane.

Running as Race 3 at 1:22pm (AEST) on Doomben 10,000 Day on Saturday, this year’s $150,000 Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) has attracted a final field of 11 fillies and mares.

To wear the number one saddlecloth and jumping from gate five with Blake Shinn in the saddle is Fastnet Rock mare Amicus whose last run produced a third to Zanbagh in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill in late March.

Her latest victory was in the Group 2 Breeders’ Classic (1200m) at Randwick in early February, Saturday her first run at Doomben.

Drawn the rails in this year’s Glenlogan Park Stakes field and barriers is the Lee Curtis-trained Press Report.

The four-year-old daughter of Written Tycoon comes off back-to-back thirds in Group 3 NSW races firstly behind Nancy in the Hawkesbury Crown (1300m) on April 30 and then to Danish Twist at Scone in the Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) on May 14.

Also coming off a last start third in Black-Type company is David Pfieffer’s Easy Rocking seven-year-old Cradle Me, the veteran mare improving on her Hawkesbury Crown 11th to finish in the money behind Clearly Innocent in the Listed Luskin Star (1300m) at Scone a fortnight ago.

Along with Press Report the other major Dark Jewel Classic graduate in the Glenlogan Park Stakes in Brisbane on the weekend is the fourth-placed Just A Blur.

A five-year-old Dane Shadow mare, the Barbara Joseph & Paul Jones-trained Just A Blur won the Wagga Gold Plate before her good effort at Scone two weeks ago from gate seven, the same barrier she jumps from on Saturday.

Other notable Glenlogan Park Stakes hopefuls this year include multiple Group 2 winner La Passe who is three-from-five over the distance and out to atone for poor recent form in Adelaide, the local Tony Gollan-trained Traveston Girl who has three previous wins at the track including December’s Listed Brisbane Handicap (1640m) over Hopfgarten and Ghisoni.

Prepared in Sydney for Godolphin by John O’Shea, promising Lonhro filly Ghisoni races in the Group 3 on the weekend over the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 (1350m).

She was entered for both races, but keen to see her press onto bigger and better things as a four-year-old in the spring O’Shea has her in the easier assignment on Saturday.

A winner of three of her five starts to date, Ghisoni was last seen running a brave fifth when beaten only 1.3 lengths by Waller’s subsequent BTC Cup third placegetter Japonisme in Randwick’s Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) on April 9.
