Set to run as Eagle Farm Race 3 at 11:55pm (AEST), this yearâs $200,000 Group 2 Bundaberg Rum Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) originally attracted 15 final acceptors.
The early scratching of the Liam Birchley-trained Elusive Catch (11) leaves 14 in the mix with the red hot favourite in the latest Dane Ripper Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au being the John OâShea-trained filly Ghisoni.
She is odds-on at $1.65 for the win, the three-year-old daughter of Lonhro coming off a Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1350m) win at Doomben from May 28.
Two weeks between runs looks ideal for the Group 1 performer who also took out Randwickâs Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) earlier in the year making her undefeated with a two-from-two record over Saturdayâs distance.
The other best fancied runner in the Dane Ripper Stakes betting markets this Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival and the only other single-figure hopeful is Cradle Me ($7).
David Pfiefferâs Easy Rocking mare is at the opposite end of the field and age scale than Ghisoni.
The top fancy has barrier 13 of 14 to overcome, while veteran seven-year-old Cradle Me gets the inside run from barrier one with Zac Purton booked for the ride.
Two back Cradle Me ran third in Sconeâs Listed Luskin Star (1300m) before her second to Ghisoni in the Glenlogan Park Stakes a fortnight ago, which looks the form to follow into the Dane Ripper at Eagle Farm.
Following the top two in the markets at more generous odds include the likes of Robert Smerdonâs Group 2 Moonee Valley Fillies Classic winner from last spring My Poppette ($11), the Chris Waller-trained early market mover Telepathic ($19 into $11) and her stablemate Amicus ($13).
So will Ghisoni salute for the punters or is there an upset Dane Ripper Stakes result on the cards?
1st
#3 Ghisoni ($1.65)
Really hard to knock the form and class of the young, odds-on filly who is short but deserving of her top spot in the markets. She has a bit of work to do from the barrier, but jockey James McDonald knows her well and she saluted at a very similar price in her first Brisbane run last time out by 1.5 lengths from the outside barrier (10 of 10) in the Glenlogan Park Stakes. Undefeated at the distance and hard to see her getting run down here.
2nd
#1 Amicus ($13)
Wallerâs classy four-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock gives the weight away here (59.5kg) and needs to improve on her Glenlogan Park seventh when beaten nearly six lengths, but sheâs a Group 1 winner over a mile having taken out the 2014 Thousand Guineas in Melbourne as a three-year-old. Plenty of experience in tougher races, has won multiple Group 2 races since including the Breeders Classic in Sydney this February gone and will be improving second-up (5-2-1-0).
3rd
#10 Telepathic ($11)
Like Wallerâs other runner for a top three finish as well and the money is coming for the returning Mossman five-year-old. Her last run was in late March when 10th in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m), but she flies fresh (6-2-2-1) and this distance looks good for a mare who likes the sting out of the track. Has trialled well and has Brazilian Joao Moreira aboard.
